Fire Guts 125 Tenements in Kemayoran

Fire destroyed 125 tenements in a densely populated, Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Gg. Siluman, RT 05/09, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Thursday (7/31), around 7.30 AM. There was no casualty reported in the incident.

Pepen, (38), one of eyewitnesses expressed the blaze came out from a two-story rented house owned by Mrs. Romli. "Fire was quickly enlarging and spreading to next buildings," he expressed, Thursday (7/31).

He stated, local citizens were then trying to put out the blaze with available tools. "Mrs. Romli's house is actually being rented by Mrs. Asih. Moreover, she (Mrs. Asih) is currently in her hometown in Tegal," he told.

Fire kept growing up because of many houses made from triplex. Luckily, the caretaker and citizens of Grand Palace Grand near the fire location immediately helped the locals put out the blaze.

Head of Central Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Rahmat Kristianto uttered his side received a fire report around 7.50 AM. "Afterwards, we deploy 19 fire trucks to the scene," he told.
